About the Queenstown Family Stores

Queenstown Corps requires two Family Store Team Leaders to join our busy team in Queenstown. The family stores have been high performers and well supported by the local community for a long time.

About the role

The Family Store Team Leader will provide vital support and assistance as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Implementing strategic direction and operations, leading the performance of the Family Store to meet agreed financial and operational targets. As such, the Team Leader will work closely in a supportive role alongside the Family Store Area Manager (FSAM) assisting with all aspects of their work. They will operate by applying sound judgement and supporting operational excellence.

Key tasks:

  • Report to and work closely alongside the Family Store Area Manager (FSAM) to ensure efficient and timely procedures are maintained
  • Daily review of department sales totals and implement changes to improve efficiency and increase the scope and profitability of the Store
  • Assist the FSAM to ensure that the Family Store day to day operations are compliant with all ethical and legislative obligations in employment, health and safety, business, sale of goods and any other area of responsibility
  • Staff and Volunteer Management

The appointee would be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A relational people approach; with strong operational skills to work well in a team to achieve goals, with the energy, passion and competencies to turn vision into reality
  • The ability to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds, sensitive to ethnic, cultural and issues; and to build long term positive working relationships
  • Well organised with ability to prioritise multiple tasks and especially those that will create maximum financial return
  • Flexibility with duties, as these will be many and varied
  • The ability to remain calm and objective under pressure
  • A business focused attitude, with a good knowledge of sales/ retail
  • Goal and target focused and able to evaluate and analyse numerical data to inform decisions
  • The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • An ethical approach to working in a respectful, honest and transparent way to build trust across the family stores, upholding the values of The Salvation Army
  • Willingness to contribute to the mission of The Salvation Army
