About the role

ADL is a growing, established organisation making a difference with young people in the lower South Island. We are seeking someone with passion and skills for financial administration to join our finance team of four.

The specific responsibilities include

Core Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable transaction processing and reconciliations
  • Assistance with
    • Cash book reconciliation
    • Accounts Receivable and Invoicing

Other Responsibilities

  • Payroll processing and administration, this is a support role to the Payroll Administrator with full training given.
  • Funding Administration: A small component maintaining our funding database and supporting the funding applications being made.

This is a permanent part time role of 20 hours per week, based in Dunedin at our central city office.

Skills and experience


  • ADL use Xero as its core financial system and so Xero certification is preferred or at least experience in all relevant aspects of the product suite.
  • Intermediate level accounts payable, cash book and accounts receivable
  • This is a busy role and so a high level of organisation, attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines is essential.
  • Be positive and have a solution-focused approach.


  • Some experience and knowledge of NZ payroll legislation and its practical application to the regular processing of payroll.
  • Experience with i-payroll would be of benefit as this is the payroll application used.
  • Some background in funding administration and applications would be helpful but isn’t essential.
