Job content

Given GJ Gardner’s steady growth and need for someone in-house they are looking for a Draughtsperson to cover a variety of residential property developments in the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Wairarapa regions.

You will be working across their offices in Palmerston North and Masterton, working closely with their sales consultants and wider team to provide high quality, accurate working drawings, and amendments within agreed timeframes, project specifications and set budgets.

You can expect regular contact and support from the wider GJ Gardner team and manager who understands the importance of being readily available to his staff. You will be valued, recognised and rewarded professionally and personally with The Readers Digest 2020 “Most Trusted Home Builder by Kiwi’s”.

What will your week involve?

  • Prepare building and resource consent documentation and submissions.
  • Communicate, negotiate, and coordinate requirements and activities of our clients, consultants, councils, and authorities.
  • Sketch design work and drawings.
  • Support sales with design options and client requests
  • Overview build risk matrix as per GJ Gardner parameters.
  • Support site investigative visits as per preparation of consent/septic requirements.
  • Potential support work with 3D based subdivision development.

Who will this suit?

Digging in when the pressure is on, being able to change gears quickly without compromising quality, all comes naturally to you. You will have a genuine passion for your work, can apply the right level of detail to what you do and will look to develop trust and confidence in your working relationships. You will have a relevant tertiary architectural qualification, experience using ArchiCAD and the ability to produce concept & detailed consent drawings for residential projects.

Ideally, you will have NZ experience in preparation of working drawings and good knowledge and understanding of the current building code and standards including NZS3604. They value and support further training and personal development of the above skills.

This is a full-time role working between Monday and Friday (7:30am – 5:00pm). We are looking for someone to be based in Palmerston North or Masterton as you will be required to work and travel between both offices.

If you are looking for a unique opportunity, accountability and autonomy apply today!
