Hamilton City Council’s City Parks team are looking for a Garden Assistant to join their dedicated and enthusiastic Park Landscapes team. As our new Garden Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the city’s Annual Bedding sites and assisting the wider parks team that help make our city beautiful.

We are looking for someone with an interest and ambition to grow their career in the horticulture industry. If you don’t have all the technical skills and knowledge, but you have the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a preference for being part of a team then we are keen to hear from you.

Experience is not critical! The Hamilton City Council is ultimately looking for someone who has a real PASSION for horticulture and is looking to get into the industry. We can potentially put you through a horticulture certificate if that is something you are wanting to do. We are ultimately wanting someone who is excited to learn and grow their skills.

You’ll be joining a team which values collaboration and strong team relationships, with members who are creative and proud of the contribution they make to the city every day.

Our ideal candidate has:
- A team player who has a positive can-do attitude, someone who is eager to pitch-in and get the job done
- A full drivers license and the ability to drive manual vehicles
- A friendly and approachable demeanor with excellent customer service skills

It’s essential you enjoy working outdoors all year round and have a good level of fitness, as the role can be physically demanding at times.

The recruiting range for this role starts at $21.10 per hour and could be negotiated for the right candidate.
