Attendance Service Liaison

Starfish Social Services is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the Matamata-Piako community for over 10 years, providing community based social services to meet the holistic (hinengaro, tinana, and wairua) needs of rangatahi and their whanau. Ensuring young people in our community have the skills, support, and networks that they need to achieve their goals and maintain wellbeing is what we are all about.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for an Attendance Service Liason who will engage with and provide wrap around support for rangatahi across the Matamata-Piako rohe. This is a 0.5 FTE role which is equivalent to 20 hours per week.

The primary function of this role will be to work with young people in our community who are not regularly attending school and are having issues with truancy. Your role will be to listen to and empower young people to attend school and assist in breaking down any barriers that are preventing them from doing so.


The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience engaging with Rangatahi from all walks of life.
  • Assist rangatahi to engage with appropriate services to help them overcome barriers.
  • The desire to work with youth and their whanau within a variety of contexts.
  • Excellent communication, ability to work autonomously and in a team setting.
  • A full driver licence is essential.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred but not essential.
  • Basic computer literacy is essential

Police vetting clearance will be undertaken.
