Would you like to be part of a dynamic team, providing practical and emotional support to individuals and their families / whānau, affected by cancer?
Are you looking for a role that offers you flexibility, that enables you to connect and make a real difference within your community? Then the Cancer Society may have an exciting opportunity for you!

The Cancer Society, Otago and Southland Division is looking for an exceptional person to join our Support Care team in Coastal Otago.

Due to a resignation of a long term staff member who has now moved into Dunedin, we have a vacant role waiting for the right person to make it their own.

In this role, you will provide practical and emotional support to individuals and families / whānau affected by cancer, providing information and support as they navigate the health system. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to liaise effectively with local service providers and coordinate local volunteers to provide wrap around support for persons impacted by a cancer diagnosis in the area. As the person on the ground, you will also be the face of the Cancer Society in the community, and will be involved in other Cancer Society events, including Daffodil Day and Relay for Life.

To be successful in this role, you will be a health care professional with at least four years’ experience, with well-developed needs assessment skills. You will thrive on working as part of a team but can work autonomously and strongly self-directed. An understanding of the impact of cancer on individuals, family/whānau and the wider community would be an asset. You will have well-developed computer skills and a clean and current drivers license.

The role would suit a person fitting around family or other work commitments. We are looking to fill a 15-20 hour per week position, based in Balclutha. This position does require some travel in the region, however this is usually done during work hours.

We offer flexibility in working hours for the right candidate and a dynamic, supportive working environment.
