This is a restructured coordinator role that works with vulnerable people and will just as importantly involve work to grow and develop a team to support the position.

The Community Ministries Coordinator will perform the following key tasks:

Grow, train, and coordinate a team of volunteers to work with vulnerable people Coordinate quality welfare assessments to identify needs Promote and support New Lynn Community Ministry programmes to clients and show the knowledge and discernment of when to refer on Ensure that our food-bank stock levels are maintained and manage food donations Support the wider New Lynn Community Ministries team with general administration, reporting, quality assurance checks and data entry

The Successful Candidate Who Will Bring The Following

Has the ability to exercise mature judgement, sensitivity, tact, discretion, care, and foresight in interacting with people Has good time management and prioritisation skills Has good computer skills and experience in the use of Office 365 Has excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrates well-developed listening and communication skills Has strong advocacy and negotiation skills when working on behalf of clients Has the ability to relate to people from a diverse range of backgrounds and work within a team Is able to prioritise multiple tasks as you will receive lots of requests Is positive in their attitude and can-do nature - pitching in is important in this role Has the ability to work with minimal supervision and have a high level of initiative Displays a love and compassion for people who need their dignity recognized and restored Has a practical understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and is willing to grow in their cultural understanding Can identify with the mission and values of the Salvation Army Has a current driver’s licence
