We have an opportunity for an Exhibitions Preparator Pūkenga Whakaaturanga Taonga to work with our small, passionate team with the development and implementation of our exhibitions and public programmes. Responsible for technical aspects of exhibition planning, the role will ensure all exhibitions are displayed, stored and documented correctly, and provide advice and guidance to colleagues and contractors. Using your excellent relationship management and communication skills you will also provide customer services support to the wider libraries and galleries facilities when needed. This permanent role is part-time, 24 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday with weekend work for exhibition installs, openings and public programmes as agreed.

We’ll provide the support and professional development, you’ll provide the skills. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant qualification in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art History or Arts Management, and trade skills including painting and building will be an advantage
  • Practical experience working in art galleries or museums specifically exhibition displays and delivery, with demonstrated safe art handling skills and experience
  • Excellent project management skills, demonstrating time management and attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of exhibition systems, lighting and audiovisual technology
  • Understanding of best practice research techniques
  • Outstanding communication and relationship management skills - you will enjoy interacting with a variety of people and have the confidence to talk through concerns to find solutions
  • Above all else, a good sense of humour and a great work ethic. All with a big smile!
