Arvida’s The Wood Retirement Village is a retirement village in central Nelson with a friendly community and family orientated focus.

Our Gardener whose been with us for three years is leaving, and we are looking for an experienced gardener to take the reins 32 hours per week. Our residents are the centre of everything we do and our dedicated Gardener strives to ensure our Residents enjoy park like gardens. The Gardener is responsible for the maintenance and development of all the gardens, lawns and landscaping within the village, in accordance with an existing framework, schedule and budget. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic senior Gardener looking for their next big property to manage. The ideal candidate will have an eye for design, extensive knowledge of plants and their habits, and an interest in organics and sustainability. Perhaps you have a contracting background or have worked on large estates and are now looking to concentrate your efforts into one site? This is a physical job and a high standard of fitness is required.

Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar role or 5 years horticultural experience
  • Strong understanding of habitats, plants, growth patterns
  • Demonstrated competence in a similar role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices
  • Ability to maintain a clean and tidy work environment at all times
  • Full NZ Drivers Licence for the Village’s small van
