ANZCO Foods is New Zealand’s fifth largest exporter with a turnover of NZ$1.53b. The company employs 3,000 people, mainly in regional New Zealand and processes and markets products from prime New Zealand beef and lamb to more than 80 countries. In addition to the processing and manufacturing facilities located in New Zealand, ANZCO Foods has enduring relationships with their global partners. With six offshore offices, the business is well established in-market and has a well deserved reputation of integrity, quality and reliability.

ANZCO Foods is a wholly Japanese - owned company but is registered in New Zealand and operates under the New Zealand Companies Act.

​To ensure that ANZCO Foods can be true to its values and achieve its objectives, the business is seeking a commercially experienced independent director to join the board. The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience in adding value by bringing customer thinking and insights to the business. They may also have a strong marketing background with expertise in using technology as an enabler to add value through the entire supply chain. Is this You?

About the opportunity

The ANZCO Foods board comprises six directors made up of three Shareholder Appointed Directors and three New Zealand based Independent Directors. The New Zealand based Independent Directors are committed to supporting the Japanese Shareholder by bringing New Zealand and International insights to the business. This position is replacing a retiring Independent Director.

Ideally, this role requires a commercially capable leader with excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement skills who has a demonstrated track record of success in extracting further value from raw material. Is this you?

About you

To be successful as an Independent Director of ANZCO Foods, you will have an affinity with the rural sector in New Zealand and preferably a strong understanding of the food, nutrition and healthcare business. You may have commercial experience in a manufacturing and value add food production and processing environment and have an understanding of international supply chain and logistics. You may also have worked in the Healthcare sector with an understanding of how ANZCO Foods can continue to grow its presence in this dynamic sector. You will know what it takes to govern and manage change in a business that is innovative and always looking at ways to add value to its farmer suppliers, products and customers.

As a Director at ANZCO Foods you will also;

  • have the ability to shape strategic direction and bring a long-term sustainability perspective
  • contribute to quality governance, support open debate, diversity, thoughtful challenge and constructive dissent
  • be able to hold management to account through informed astute effective and independent oversight
  • have an understanding of international business
  • work with management to ensure ANZCO Foods purpose and strategy is well understood, and clearly articulated across the business.
  • set risk appetite for the entity and oversee/monitor risk management
