We are seeking a leader with experience in operationalising strategy and growing high performing teams. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to innovation and an understanding of complex regulatory systems.

About the role.

Reporting to the National Manager Sector Strategy, within the Strategy, Engagement & Education branch, the Manager Sectors is accountable for ensuring robust and informed industry focused sector strategies and plans are developed and operationalised. These sector strategies underpin the overall Immigration New Zealand (INZ) Strategy - Striking the Balance and provide a cornerstone of INZ’s service delivery model.

Working with internal and external partners, sector strategies ensure a balanced focus on facilitating and protecting New Zealand’s immigration interests.

The Manager Sectors is entering the business at an exciting time of change and growth, and will bring with them:

  • Extensive experience in leading changes in a complex regulatory environment.
  • Experience implementing system thinking preferably in a government context.
  • Proven track record of leading relationships across the public and/or private sector.
  • Extensive experience leading teams in a complex, distributed service delivery organisation
  • An ability to quickly grasp complex organisational issues and deliver well developed solutions
  • Experience in a political environment and knowledgeable on current New Zealand Labour market issues.

Skills and experience required:

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Three to five years experience in related fields
  • An understanding of business and governance issues
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and excellent interpersonal skills
  • The ability to make good judgements and make appropriate decisions relating to confidential information

About the branch:

The Strategy, Engagement and Education (SEE) branch was established in 2019 and sits within the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) Group. The Strategy, Engagement and Education branch is responsible for key functions, including INZ Strategy, Business Planning, Governance, Sector Strategy, Sector Engagement and Information and Education.

About the team:

The Sector Strategy team was established in 2019 and sits within the SEE branch. The Sector Strategy team is responibsle for ensuring robust and informed sector, Pacific and International engagement strategies are developed, put in place, maintained, and managed. This underpins the overall Immigration New Zealand (INZ) Strategy - Striking the Balance.
