Freshpork NZ is a family-owned business, passionate about producing quality New Zealand pork products. We have been delivering New Zealand pork to Kiwis for over 37 years and as New Zealand’s leading pork processor and wholesaler, we process and market approximately 40% of the pork farmed in NZ. With over 180 people in our team operating from 5 sites, we are committed to the long-term sustainability of the NZ pork industry, through innovative processing that provides fresh, high quality, tasty NZ pork products to New Zealanders and their families.

Freshpork Bay City, our Timaru production facility is New Zealand’s largest pork specialist abattoir and butchery operation. Our dedicated team of over 70 staff process around 4,500 pigs per week.

We are looking for a Meat Production Assistant to join our Bloods Team. The key part of this role will be recovery tasks including collecting blood and offal. As part of our production crew you will also complete a range of manual handling tasks that support daily slaughter operations and set up.

To be successful in this role you will:

• High attention to detail as recovery tasks are very specific

• Ensure accurate maintenance of records

• Have a good attitude and be reliable

• Be flexible to respond to production requirements

• Need physical stamina and strength due to the physicality of the job as well as a gentle touch due to the delicacy of the product.

There is a rotating shift through Sunday – Friday, 4-5 days per week. Start times will be 4.30am or 6am depending on production and finish times depend on processing times.
