The business is based in Reporoa and is well recognised, respected and delivers service excellence within a market that is synonymous with quality in New Zealand. Their product is in high demand and valued as a premium offering locally and in overseas markets.

The Opportunity

This position will be based in Reporoa and the purpose of the position will be to provide leadership and alignment of all production activities across the site in what will be an incredibly people focused role.

The key functions of the business are focused around growing and processing of tomatoes with this position being responsible for managing a team of 32 of which can exceed 50 people in peak season which runs from October to March. You will have 4 direct reports in this position, whose roles are Team Leaders and a Glasshouse Technician.

We are looking for you to bring your leadership skills to the team to add value along with a significant focus on continuous improvement and leading a positive workplace culture. This is a key role for the site and they are looking for someone who has a passion for leading teams, thinking on their feet and taking their teams on a journey to success.

Yours responsibilities will include
  • First and foremost running a safety-first workplace to create a quality focus
  • Frontline leadership across the site
  • Managing recruitment, rostering and any disciplinaries when necessary
  • People leadership with a key focus on succession planning across all teams
  • A significant focus on continuous improvement and lean management
What’s in it for you?

As the Production Manager, you will report to the Grower Manager and be responsible for the day to day leadership of the site and growers.

This is a great role for someone who is passionate about leading teams within an food environment focusing on processing and distribution with primary or horticulture experience being held very desirable though not essential. You will enjoy being challenged and not afraid to put in hard work to ensure success across your teams.

Hours of the role will be Monday to Friday worked approximately between 7.30am and 5pm with weekend work being very rare.
