Otamarakau School is looking for an experienced administrator to work in our busy office in a part-time, permanent role. The successful candidate will be great with people, as they are often the first interaction people have with our school. Within the role you must enjoy working with all ages and types of people - students, staff, parents and members of the community. Our wonderful rural school has 5 classes with almost 100 students so be prepared to be busy!

Hours of Work:

  • 16 hours per week with the possibility of increasing to 20;
  • 40 weeks per year (term time); Monday - Friday 8:30am – 12:30pm;
  • Additional hours of work are sometimes required, for example at the end of the summer school holidays before school starts, and occasional days during other school holidays. These additional hours are on request of the Principal and are negotiated to suit the Office Administrator and Principal.

Conditions of Employment and Remuneration:

  • Within Grade C/D ‘Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement’ - with pay scale on commencement negotiated to reflect experience. ( [link removed]-revised-30-June-2020.pdf [link removed])
  • Police vetting required

  • A ‘front of house’ manner that is welcoming and supportive of students, colleagues and whānau
  • A high standard of administrative skills with an eye for detail
  • An ability and willingness to learn new skills and systems
  • The ability to be efficient, flexible, and to problem solve
  • Experience with a payroll system
  • Understanding and experience of account management systems
  • Competency in using Google Workspace and MS Office products
