About This Role

Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.

The Public Service Fale is a business unit at Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission. The Public Service Fale is Pacific-led and is an initiative established by Pacific Public Service Commissioners in the Pacific to help them achieve their aspirations for their countries. Our work is unique in that it is steered and overseen by a Governance Board of Public Service Commissioners from Pacific nations.

We are looking for a senior communications generalist for the role of Senior Advisor Events & Communications, a two-year fixed term position. The senior role will require utilising your full range of skills and primarily work on the delivery of the Public Service Fale workplan, working closely with the Principal Advisor. The events part of the role requires a planner and logistical mind for running virtual events for the Pacific countries – this will also include events in-person once we are able to do so again. The communications duties of this unique role will include, and not limited to: Communicate through a range of digital channels with senior Pacific public servants across the region. Provide Communications support to the Public Service Fale programmes by promoting and engaging with stakeholders, which may include updating digital content for the Te Kawa Mataaho intranet and website; media monitoring and social media support. Experience in video content and editing a bonus.

In addition, the role will provide sound advice to the Governance Board and its Chair on events & communications and reporting to its key members. Experience working in a Pacific environment and with Pacific cultures will be important. Use a sophisticated understanding of Pacific cultures, context, and practices, to ensure the Public Service Fale works humbly and respectfully with senior Pacific public servants. This position usually pays between $92, 560 to $121, 485 depending on skills and experience.
