You will work closely with Ministers and key stakeholders in entities on the performance of New Zealand’s cultural sector to support Ministers in meeting their legislative obligations.

This role is part of a team of specialist performance advisers responsible for advising on the performance of 10 Crown entities and five non-governmental organisation contracts. The team advises on Board appointments, strategic direction, financial and organisational capability, investment business cases and budget proposals. Entities that the Ministry advises on for include Te Papa, Sport New Zealand, New Zealand Music Commission, and Creative New Zealand.

You provide knowledge, skills and experience that contributes to the development of performance advice. You will exercise initiative and act as a mentor for less experienced staff. You will be able to lead across the team on Ministerial deliverables and performance issues.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

A proven ability to develop and manage effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders Ideally, experience in providing advice on crown entity performance issues An ability to apply knowledge of te reo, tikanga and the Treaty of Waitangi, or have the willingness and commitment to learn Relevant experience in providing advice on strategy, financial and non-financial performance, performance measurement, business cases and budget proposals A proven understanding of government processes and public sector planning, reporting and the Budget cycle
