At New Zealand Post, we are committed to making sure nothing gets in the way of delivering what our customers care about. Our parcel delivery business is booming and as a Service Delivery Manager, you will lead your team to ensure we deliver on this promise every day!

We have rare opportunities for x3 Service Delivery Managers to join our Whangarei team. These are 3 separate roles based in 3 different depots - Central Whangarei, Warkworth and Kerikeri. This is an opportunity for a dynamic, commercially savvy & people focused team player, to really make their mark!

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

As a Service Delivery Manager (SDM) with us, your focus will be ensuring the delivery of all products and services “first and last mile” are delivered in a manner that meets our service standards and our customers’ expectations.

What this really means is that you’ll be responsible for leading and managing our front-line service delivery staff including Delivery Agents, Provincial Delivery Contractors, Couriers and our Rural Delivery Contractors.

In this challenging and exciting role, no two days are ever the same. You’ll be involved in any or all of these things, from
  • Managing team performance and site safety
  • Using your super IT and Excel skills to provide reporting / analysis
  • Managing rosters and budgets
  • Recruiting and onboarding new teams
  • Building internal culture and relationships
  • Being a key point of contact for our customers and dealing with any escalations - the variety is huge!
Reporting to our Area Service Delivery Manager, this role operates during core business hours, Monday to Friday, however ideally, this role would suit someone who is flexible to work a combination of early mornings and late afternoons as the role requires visibility for our awesome teams across both the shift changes.

Mōu - About You

As an experienced people leader, you’ll bring with you proven experience in developing positive teams, the ability to multitask and keep many balls in the air all at once.

You’ll combine this with
  • Leadership style that drives a high performing, customer-centric & thriving team culture
  • Customer service and relationship management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, including budgets, financials, and analytical skills
  • Good technical IT skills (not talking about an IT genius, just a strong understanding of systems and good Excel would be ideal)
  • Experience working with employee unions would be a real advantage
